How can I participate in Preparing the Way? First, let each of us begin by making a personal commitment to live our lives the Christ Way in thought, speech and action, living as if we expect Him today! Study His words. Constantly hold up the pattern of Jesus and have all thoughts, all speech and all action filter through that pattern. Live a life in service to others through prayer, meditation and action. Jesus focused on needs of others above those of His own, which brings to mind the book of Job; "The Lord restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends." (Job 42:10) Consciously live in agreement with the three commandments of Jesus: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind," "Love thy neighbor as thyself," and "This is my commandment, that you love others as I have loved you." (Matt. 22:37-39) Manifest the traits of God by giving the fruits of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." (Gal. 5:22) Consequently this will delete hate, prejudice, selfishness, backbiting, unkindness, anger, passion and all other things found in the quagmire of earthly activities. Make our paths straight by worshipping God in spirit and in truth according to Jesus' statement in John, "The hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him." We can each prepare to be His people through belief in Him and acting in that manner by being ready to give account of what we have done with our opportunities to serve the living God, while at the same time proclaiming boldly Jesus as the Christ. In Luke, Jesus states, "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." We then should act in the knowledge that He will come again and receive His own. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Seek to find the joy of the Lord by helping others help themselves by each deepening his/her relationship with God through Christ. Share with them the happiness in the Christ Way by keeping His ways, His promises, His life before us, ever praying, "Not my will but Yours" in all activities. Remember that we are children of the Most High. Act like it! The way will be prepared for His return.
